OREGON FILES #7

THE SILENT SEA BY CLIVE CUSSLER

This book had me wishing the inspirational story behind it was real, yes it was THAT GOOD!!!!!! The connection between what happened in 1941 to four young and youthful brothers to present day Juan Cabrillo and The Corporation is simply mind-blowing and creativity at its finest. To think something that happened so long ago still stirred and contributed to a national crisis between modern day U.S. Argentina and China, it's simply astounding and oddly reminiscent of real life.

THE SYNOPSIS

"The Silent Sea is the gripping seventh novel in Clive Cussler's Oregon Files Series.

December, 1941. Four brothers investigate the secrets of a treasure pit on a small island in the Pacific. But a sudden death and the coming war allow its secrets to lie forgotten...

Present day. Juan Cabrillo and the Oregon team have been sent to locate the remains of a crashed NASA satellite in the Argentine jungle. Coming under attack, they make a mysterious discovery which sends them to a small Pacific island. There they will discover the deadly secrets of an ancient Chinese expedition—by the lost ship The Silent Sea. Now Cabrillo and his team are in a race against time to find the remains of The Silent Sea. Because there will be terrible consequences if someone else finds it first..."

The adventures of Juan Cabrillo and The Corporation is simply Tom Cruise in a novel. The secrets of an ancient Chinese expedition so shushed it became a myth are uncovered by four brothers several years before. However, the death of one of their own leaves the mystery unattended to and ultimately unanswered.

Now Juan Cabrillo and The Corporation are called upon for help in a military state and they soon stumble on secrets left behind by these four brothers.

With the wake of the annexation of Antarctica by the military-controlled Argentine, backed up by the superpower China. It is a race against time to find the archaeological discovery hidden years ago that might let this injustice go unanswered. It's a quest of desperation and speed, the question remains, who can speak to the dead? And who is better at the game of World Politics.

Wits, endurance, speed, and social skills, everything is tested in the race against time to discover The Silent Sea in the face of an imminent threat to the U.S. and the rest of the world.

The fate of The Silent Sea  is yours to find out.

ROMANCE IN THE AIR

THE LORDS OF THE UNDERWORLD SERIES

                                          BY GENA SHOWALTER

                                          THE DARKEST NIGHT

Honestly speaking, this book captivated me from the cover right till the very end. This is the first book in a 15 man series.

This first one focuses on Maddox-Keeper of Violence and his relationship with supposed Bait, Ashlyn. Ashlyn brings Maddox relief and light in his world of pain and darkness. Cursed to relieve the way he had brutally slain Pandora every night at midnight, Maddox is gloomy and distanced from all others but that all changed when he left their fortress in Budapest to deal with supposed Hunters and he meets Ashlyn, a female seeking out the Lords because she needs their help with a gift/curse that she has; the ability to hear every conversation that had taken place in a particular spot no matter how much time had passed.

Both are ultimately drawn towards each other and are unable to resist the passion and fire driving them closer to one another. Eventually they stop resisting and start to draw nearer to each other and soon they are both put to the ultimate test of love.

The author definitely outdid herself with his masterpiece. It's wonderful, steamy and just absolutely heavenly. This is definitely one for the records book so if you're a romance and paranormal fan, then is the perfect piece for you.

FIRST BOOK REVEIW!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'LL BE SEEING YOU BY MARY HIGGINS CLARK

Amazing, teeth chattering and mysterious, those are all the words I would use to describe this novel. For those who haven't read this book, it is one of the best mystery thriller I've ever read. It was jaw-dropping and kept me on the edge of my seat all through the time I was reading it.

SYNOPSIS

"Meghan Collins, a television news reporter, is covering a story in the emergency room of a large hospital when a young woman is rushed in on a stretcher, victim of a stabbing. What she sees in that terrible moment begins a chain of discovery that exposes the secret lives of the people closest to her."

The female lead, Meghan is one of a kind. Strong, brave and smart, she drives the motive in this thriller for answers to a dead body she had seen and the secret life of her now dead father, Edwin Collins.

From Edwin's disappearance to his presumed death but unable to find his body, Meghan uncovers a web of lies like no other. I have to admit, the author originally had me fooled thinking the villain was someone else but by the ending, the villain was someone who had been present throughout the entire novel., Someone no one expected not even Meghan. Faced with two killers looming over her, Meghan scrambles for a way to get out of this dilemma of hers alive without triggering both of them.

I especially loved where the psychic was contacted and she had to determine whether Edwin was dead and I have to admit, her final comments about his resting place had me stunned, thinking it was the river under the bridge.

I don't want to dish out any spoilers so I'll just leave you all to it. But this book is definitely a must read for all mystery, thriller and action lovers. I give it five stars.
